About the Pigeon

Pigeons are some of the very first animals we as humans domesticated. They’re sweet, loving, and have been domesticated over many years to be great companions. Unfortunately, we abandoned the birds once our technology advanced, and left them on the streets. Today, these majestic animals are born amongst debris and often lose their feet in hairs or plastic while they live off our garbage. We even install anti-bird infrastructure around our cities to stop them from raising their young.

It’s a tragic story that you’re helping improve by enjoying the animal and showing your love for our former companion.

The Pigeon Theory

Pigeons are seen as rats with wings, and annoying dirty creatures. They are given a terrible reputation and only certain people like yourself can see through that veil to show your compassion for the amazing animals. People who can appreciate pigeons are showing an empathy that runs deeper than the superficial labels of society.

I designed Pigeon Borb because of a personal connection. While I was developing the other Borb designs, a pigeon decided to roost just outside of my window. A painter accidentally left a small box atop a light fixture, and the little bird decided that it would make for a great home. She was right!

Every day, when I saw the bird fluttering to her box, I would drop a couple seeds for her after her journey. She was scared at first. So, I made sure to keep the window shut in the beginning, and to leave the seeds far from my chair so that she could eat in peace. When she flew back, I’d give her more. And over time, she slowly approached until she’d eat by my side in my room.

As time went on, even her boyfriend began eating seeds from my hand, and when they birthed their squab, they let me look at it without so much as flinching.

The trust they showed me after just a few short weeks helped me understand how we once domesticated these lovely animals. It also helped me realize that pigeons were something more than just a normal bird.

In the years since, I’ve developed Pigeon Borb (Pigeon Bird-Orb) as one of my favorite designs for one of my favorite animals. Both these creatures and the hyraxes I film for @Hyraxhub represent my love for the more obscure animals living around the world, and my mission to spread awareness and love for these little critters that we share our planet with.

FAQ

What makes these soft stuffed animals, “Sensory Friendly?”

Here are the following characteristics we avoid:
• Hard bead eyes are distracting to the touch, can get cold or hot, and fall off with love.
• Types of silk, glittery fur, or corduroy is overstimulating for some. These animals are made with soft plush fur, instead.
• Felt bits can leave scratch marks in the night. We will never use felt bits.
You deserve a stuffed animal that minimizes these pain points. Also, if you’re buying one as a gift, your recipient will be happy to have a friend that they could love and embrace.

How should I wash my stuffed animals?

• Your Borbs™ stuffed animal contains premium super soft stuffing which clumps when exposed to heat. When machine washed, it must be washed AND dried without heat.
• Your Borbs™ stuffed animal is made of a soft plush fur that mattes when washed unprotected in a machine. Make sure to protect it with a mesh bag or sealed pillowcase to ensure this fur is not damaged.

What do you mean by Neurodiverse / Aneurotypical?

•Borbs™ stuffed animals are designed to be neurodiverse friendly. This means they are designed for those of us with mental disabilities such as ADHD, Dementia, or Autism, as well as other mental health disorders.
